Willem Hendrik Pieter Van Iperen, 73, of Westfield, NJ passed away at his home on July 29, 2018. Willem was a beloved son, brother, uncle, husband, father, and grandfather. At the age of 22, he moved from the Netherlands to the United States. An engineer and inventor by trade, he earned degrees in electrical, mechanical, instrument, and biomedical engineering and coauthored over 20 patents. His career spanned scientific research, academia, as well as transportation and biomedical engineering. Always creative and passionate about science and nature, he loved to read, travel, garden, and spend time with his family, especially his grandchildren. His humor was infectious, his storytelling was top notch, and his love was central to the core of the family.

He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 48 years, Lucy, his daughter, Elizabeth Arguelles and her husband, Oscar, his son Pieter and his wife, Kerri, and his grandchildren David and Adam Arguelles, and Emerson Van Iperen.

He is also survived by his brothers and their wives, Cees and Nel, Arie and Tiny, Dirk and Alice and their families, his sisters and their husbands, Aatie and Cees Alting, Ineke and Jaap Overduin, Els and Wim Schut and their families, and his brother-in-laws Andrew and Harry Piskun and their families.
